Project Design Description

1. Project Overview

527 STUDIO is a professional music production studio located in Hangzhou, situated on the basement level of the building. Benefiting from a quiet environment and excellent sound isolation conditions, the studio specializes in music recording, production, and arrangement. Centered around an immersive creative atmosphere while accommodating personalized workflow needs, the space is designed to provide an efficient, comfortable, and distinctive environment for music creation.

2. Space Planning

The project occupies a total area of approximately 88㎡, with clearly defined functional zones that balance creative work and relaxation:

• Control Room: 59㎡ – the core production and mixing space.

• Recording &      Lounge Area: 29㎡ – a multifunctional space for      recording, relaxation, and client reception.

3. Design Highlights

(1) Control Room: Futuristic “Space Capsule” Concept with Professional Immersive Audio Setup

The control room is inspired by the concept of a space capsule, creating a mysterious and futuristic atmosphere that makes users feel as though they are working inside a spacecraft. This immersive environment helps stimulate creativity and inspires new musical ideas.

The room is equipped with an intelligent lighting system, allowing different lighting scenes to be selected according to various creative moods and working situations. The changing ambience further enhances the creative process.

Custom acoustic modules are installed on both sides of the workstation. Their design is inspired by audio waveforms, with the highest points of the linear modules forming a continuous soundwave curve. This approach naturally integrates acoustic treatment with musical imagery, adding artistic character to the space.

Additional features include:

• A custom      perforated acoustic panel on the right side, combining acoustic treatment      with practical storage for hanging headphones while maintaining a clean      and organized appearance.

• A dedicated      storage cabinet at the rear for microphones and cables, providing      integrated organization and display to improve workflow efficiency and      equipment accessibility.

(2) Connected Dual-Space Design

The two main areas are separated by an acoustically insulated glass door, maintaining visual connectivity while preserving acoustic isolation.

This design creates a striking contrast between the two spaces:

• A high-tech,      futuristic control room with a space-capsule aesthetic.

• A warm,      inviting recording and lounge area designed for relaxation and      communication.

The interaction between these contrasting atmospheres creates a unique and memorable spatial experience.

(3) Recording & Lounge Area: A Relaxed and Welcoming Multifunctional Space

This multifunctional space accommodates demo recording, client receptions, and relaxation. The design emphasizes warmth, comfort, and a relaxed ambience, intentionally reducing the rigidity of a traditional professional studio environment. The result is a welcoming space that encourages creativity, collaboration, and casual interaction.

Given Hangzhou’s warm and humid climate, combined with the studio’s basement location, moisture control was a critical consideration throughout the design and construction process. Comprehensive moisture-proofing measures were implemented to ensure the long-term durability and stability of the space.

Within an 88㎡ basement space, this project successfully combines a futuristic space-capsule-inspired control room with a warm and comfortable multifunctional lounge area. Featuring intelligent lighting, integrated acoustic storage solutions, and a visually connected layout, the studio not only meets the demands of professional music production but also provides a comfortable and inspiring environment for creativity and self-expression
